PDAF

 PDAF stands for Phase Detection AutoFocus. It is a technology used in digital cameras and smartphones to quickly and accurately focus on a subject by measuring the phase difference between the light rays entering the camera lens.


Traditionally, autofocus systems used contrast detection, which measures the contrast of the image to determine the focus. However, this method can be slow and inaccurate, especially in low-light situations or when capturing fast-moving objects.


Phase detection autofocus, on the other hand, uses a set of specialized sensors located on the camera's image sensor to measure the phase difference between the light rays that pass through two adjacent microlenses. By analyzing this data, the camera can determine the direction and distance needed to move the lens to achieve accurate focus.


PDAF is a faster and more reliable autofocus method than contrast detection, making it ideal for capturing fast-moving objects or shooting in low-light conditions. It is commonly found in high-end smartphones and digital cameras.
