IP Rating

IP rating, also known as Ingress Protection rating, is a standardized system that is used to classify the degree of protection provided by an enclosure or casing against the intrusion of solid objects, dust, and water. It is a measure of the device's ability to withstand external elements and provide reliable performance.

The IP rating is comprised of two digits. The first digit indicates the level of protection against solid objects and the second digit represents the level of protection against liquids. The higher the number, the greater the level of protection. For example, an IP68 rating is the highest rating possible and provides complete protection against dust and can be immersed in water for a prolonged period of time.

IP rating is important because it helps manufacturers to design and produce devices that meet specific protection requirements for their intended use. It is commonly used in the electronics, automotive, and construction industries, among others, to ensure the durability and reliability of devices in various environments.
